Swawou:
Law Business Research is proud to fund and support the Swawou School for Girls, which is based in Kenema, Sierra Leone.
We’ve been supporting the school since it was set up in 2009 and it now offers 120 girls from the local community a valuable education, as well as a free hot lunch every day and grants for learning materials. The school is designed to be a safe, positive environment for the girls with the students’ families and members of the local community involved in decisions affecting the school.
LBR supports the school financially with a large annual donation which covers the school’s running costs. With the help of our wonderful FUNraising Network and our other EAN events such as bake offs, auctions and quizzes we also organise an annual mailout of Christmas cards and gifts, a mixture of essential supplies (stationery, toothbrushes, toiletries, reading glasses, etc) and fun things for the girls to enjoy.
Our EANs also partner with and fundraise for charities aligned with their goals such as Mind, The Felix Project, FareShare and The Alwan Foundation. Many of our employees utilise their paid Volunteer Day to support their local communities either as individuals or in groups – the most recent being a day spent clearing up Southwark Park in London alongside Surfers Against Sewage.
The London Legal Support Trust:
The London Legal Support Trust is an independent charity that raises funds for free legal advice services in London and the South-East. They support the centres through the provision of grant funding, supporting infrastructure of the sector, and helping agencies reduce costs and save money via pro bono or discounted schemes.
LBR is pleased to support the fundraising activities of the London Legal Support Trust in particular via the Trust’s two main annual events, the London Legal Walk and the Great Legal Bake.
